Water Exercise Classes
Arthritis Water Exercise Class
This Arthritis Foundation and the YMCA of the USA class is a warm-water recreational exercise program designed specially for people with arthritis.
Its purpose is to reduce pain and stiffness. It may also increase range of motion of the joints.
Our program is taught by AF/YMCA trained personnel. It consists of 60 minute sessions, three times a week.
Swimming ability is not necessary to participate in the program. Each day is a separate class.
A medical release is required before taking class.
Arthritis Plus Water Exercise Class
Participants enrolling in Arthritis Plus should meet the basic standards set by the Arthritis Foundation of America.
The activities will be performed at a low to moderate intensity in order to improve muscular strength and endurance with a minimum risk of injury. A medical release is required before taking class.
Arthritis Plus Water Exercise Class participants enrolling in arthritis Plus
should:
- Have functional and relatively comfortable shoulder and elbow motion.
- Be able to tolerate a 5-minute aquatic endurance component or 15 minutes of standing or walking on land without excessive pain, fatigue or shortness of breath.
- Require no more than minimal assistance to enter and exit the pool
- Feel comfortable and confident in the water.

Water Fitness Class
Water Aerobics is one of the fastest growing exercise programs in the country.
Join us for a warm-water workout (offered 3 times each week during the school
year, and it is offered twice a week during summer months.. This class focuses
on aerobic conditioning using high and low impact moves.
Water Workout Class
This exercise will focus on cardio fitness, lower body strength, and balance. It is easy on your joints and the resistance of the water gives you twice the
exercise for the walk! Swimming ability is not required. This class meets
twice a week during the school year and once a week for the summer months.
