Meet the Instructor:
The YMCA Lifeguard Training at Southeastern Indiana YMCA is taught by Kristen Fletcher, Aquatics Director.
Kristen
has been a certified YMCA Lifeguard Instructor since 2006.
She is also a certified instructor in CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid through the American Red Cross.
Kristen has been a certified Lifeguard for 12 years and enjoys
giving this opportunity to anyone who is interested, adults and children
alike.
YMCA Lifeguard Training Prerequisites
Must be 16 years old Must be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer Must be certified in First Aid (CPR -PR and First Aid is usually offered as part of the course training)Must perform long, shallow front dive Must be able to complete a 500 yd. swim (100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 elementary backstroke no arms, 100 sidestroke, & 100 rescue sidestroke) Must tread water for 2 minutes with legs only Must perform surface glides head-first and feet-first in at least 8 to 10 feet of water
