SPECIAL NEEDS WATER FUN IN A MEMBERS WORDS:

My name is Phyillis “Kay” Hurley, my daughter Dana Hurley has special needs. Dana has come such a long way in her lifetime and has achieved even more than what her doctors said was possible. With the strong support of family and friends she continues to grow. What surprises me even more, is the love and patience she receives from total strangers. We decided to join the Y about one year ago and we were informed about the Special Needs Tae Kwon Do program and the Special Needs Water Fun exercise class. As Dana began
participating in theses programs, the instructors in both programs took her under their wing, and treated her as family.

The Special Needs Water Fun class has allowed Dana to experience the water and gain new self-confidence. She continues to work on personal challenges that water can help her overcome. She is doing more in the water now than she has ever been able to do before. I want to invite more families who have Special Needs to join us on Friday evenings and experience what fun the water can bring you. See you there!

Swim Lessons
At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill for everyone. In swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified instructors meet swimmers at their own level and celebrate all successes. By educating and partnering with swimmers, we’re determined to prevent drowning in our community.
A variety of class times and types is available to meet your family’s needs: mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Class size is determined by considering safety factors and participants’ ages, making sure classes don’t get too big to be comfortable for the students and the instructors. We offer group and individual lessons. Non-members welcome. Special price for members. A lifeguard is on duty at all times. For a complete description of swim lessons, including class times and fees please view our current PROGRAM GUIDE.
